Is it Time to Find The Perfect Bicycle?

It can seem very hard to find a new bike when you have so many choices. Take heart! Even professional cyclists struggle when choosing their next bicycle. The fact of the matter is that getting a bike involves many different choices. Imagine the future: how safe, comfy and stylish do you need the bike to be. How far will you ride and where will you be riding? Choosing between all of the options available can be overwhelming, especially since new developments in cycling happen all the time. Here are some of the criteria you should use when you are buying your next cycling bicycle.

We’d be misleading you if we didn’t admit that fashion does impact your decision. The color we like best, or the style we like least, all influence our choices. Your new bike should reflect your favorites. Obviously, the style and fashion elements of the bicycle should not be your top priority (unless the bicycle is just for show). Excellent safety and comfort should be the first criteria met by your new bike. Then, when safety and comfort have been secured, choose your favorites according to their visual appearance. Which handlebars to go with is also a serious decision. Not all handlebars are the same. It's easier to handle a bike over rough terrain with handlebars that extend straight out. These handlebars will also evenly distribute your weight over a larger area. For racing however you will want special handlebars, ones which are thinner and are positioned in such a way you can lean over them as you find out cycle. This is to lower wind resistance and will allow you to go faster. If you aren’t going to be using your bicycle very often, you might simply opt for a handlebar style that feels comfortable and makes it easier to store your bicycle while you aren’t using it.

Where you set the angle of your seat is also something to consider. There are a variety of options for tilting the bicycle seat. Most people find a seat that is flat to be a bit too uncomfortable, so they tilt it the way that feels the best. Always choose the most comfortable position for your seat. You could leave it as it is, but the narrow part of the seat might not allow you to rest comfortably in a forward leaning position.

Lots and lots of different features and options are out there as you look for a new bicycle. Your choices range from safety issues to those of fashion. Feeling a little defeated at the outset of choosing your new bike is normal. The good news is that, with a little research, you can make a very informed decision about which bicycle is best for you.

Take your time to learn about your options before you shop. It’s the best answer for easier shopping.
